At AAB Wealth one of our key values is to continue to invest in the future talent of our profession, and our various training programmes contribute towards our continued growth. Which is why we are delighted to welcome three new members, Ross White, Shannon Cowie and Rachel Hamilton to the firm as part of the Client Service Support (CSS) team. Our CSS team are the backbone of our business, who not only ensure all processes and documents for client work are completed to a high standard but play a key role in delivering the best possible service to clients.

Prior to joining AAB Wealth, Shannon studied Accounting and Finance at RGU and graduated with a First-Class Honours degree in 2020. Whilst at university, she heard from some of the team at AAB during a visit to campus which led to her attending an open evening to gain further insight into the various teams and training programmes available at AAB. This is where she heard about AAB Wealth and she felt this area would be the best fit for her. After graduating, Shannon planned to travel for a while so hadn’t applied to graduate roles yet, but due to the travel restrictions introduced in 2020, she began applying for jobs that interested her with AAB still on her mind. Shannon enjoyed a finance role with Aberdeenshire Council, but she explains “when I saw on the AAB website that the graduate applications opened for 2021 I had no hesitation in applying. I was delighted when I was offered the position.”

After studying Accountancy at college, Rachel worked at an accountancy firm in the Payroll department where her passion for pensions grew. This led to her decision to move over to Financial Services, where she then worked at a Financial Planning firm for almost 4 years. Having worked in the Finance industry for a while, AAB Wealth was somewhere Rachel had heard a lot of great things about. In addition to the reputation she’d read and heard about, a few friends who had previously worked at AAB in the past shared their appreciation of the teams support for training and development. Ready for a new challenge, it seemed like the perfect fit for Rachel.

Ross took an alternative route, while working full time in a coffee shop in 2020, he began studying business management online to expand his existing knowledge while on furlough. Having previously expressed an interest in the AAB Apprenticeship programme within the Business Advisory team, Ross kept in touch with the AAB HR team and was delighted to receive a call in February to tell him of a vacancy in the Wealth department. He then began to look more closely at financial planning and realised it offered a brilliant chance to form lasting relationships with clients and help them towards reaching their life goals, Ross adds “I loved that it was a young firm looking to grow.”

Shannon on the other hand has always had a keen interest in finance and planning for the future. Whilst studying towards her degree it became clear that it was the correct career path for her. But what made AAB Wealth the right firm for her? Shannon explains, “I had heard from numerous people about the amazing support given whilst training at AAB, whether it be on the job training or whilst studying towards professional exams. The wealth of knowledge and expertise at AAB coupled with the training from the professional bodies had allowed them to progress well in their chosen career path.”

Shannon plans to continue her training as Client Service Support and hopes to study towards professional exams to progress in her career at AAB Wealth, “the best part about working at AAB Wealth is working within a team who have actively supported my training and personal development from day one.” Ross and Rachel also hope to carry on evolving their skills both stating that their current end goal is to become a chartered financial planner.

Chartered Financial Planner status is achieved by completing the Advanced Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning and having 5 years of industry experience. We understand the need for continuous career development and are extremely proud of everyone at AAB Wealth for always looking towards the next achievement to help them and support others to deliver awesome service to our clients. Our approach to client service is a full team approach, we all have a role to play. When delivering to clients (and each other) we are contributing to our entire team delivering for our clients. Knowing that our team are all working towards one goal ensures we deliver the best possible service.
